Liverpool makes a last-minute move and there could be a surprise with Konaté
Real Madrid are keeping an eye on what might happen with the French center-back
Real Madrid considered the transfer window closed weeks ago, but it's not unaffected by the latest moves. In terms of departures, due to everything that has happened with Dani Ceballos and his possible exit. However, Olympique de Marseille has ultimately canceled his potential signing.
Among the reinforcements, Konaté seemed to be the one making the most noise at the moment. He still hasn't renewed his contract with Liverpool, and in 2026 he could arrive as a free agent. Although there has been speculation that he could join this summer for a reasonable fee.

For that to happen, the Reds needed to strengthen the center of their defense and they've already signed the young Italian, Giovanni Leoni. But they wanted another one, and that's where they set their sights on Marc Guéhi. The Crystal Palace player was their main desire, although it seemed it wouldn't be easy.
Despite the complications, Liverpool would remain in talks to try to secure his signing. They're going to keep trying until the end of the window, something that could free up Konaté. In fact, they'd open the door for him to leave if Guéhi ends up arriving at Anfield.
Liverpool removes a competitor from the equation
Guéhi's strong performances have caught the attention not only of Liverpool, but also of other teams. That's the case with Manchester City, who were ready to get involved. They were preparing a big offer if Guardiola lost any players in his defensive line.

But Guéhi seems to have made up his mind and only wants to sign for Liverpool, to whom he has reportedly already said yes. In fact, everything depends on Crystal Palace and whether they're able to find him a replacement. If that happens, they won't have any issues with him moving to Anfield in this window.
This is something Real Madrid will be watching very closely since it could free up Konaté, although that's not the plan. The idea is to wait until next summer, when he'll arrive for free as a free agent. Alternatively, in the winter window if Madrid need any reinforcements due to injuries during the season.
