Liverpool speaks out on the Konaté case, Florentino knows everything: 'We...'

'We want 50 million for the player,' a price that Valdebebas doesn't want to pay

Real Madrid is still looking for a center-back and the name of Ibrahima Konaté is back on the table. At Anfield, they're clear: if anyone wants the Frenchman, they'll have to pay.

"We want 50 million for the player," that's the message that has arrived from Liverpool to Valdebebas. It's a price that, right now, the white club isn't considering.

Konaté has rejected Liverpool's latest contract renewal offer. He wants to leave and Liverpool doesn't want to risk keeping the player and having him leave for free in 2026. That's why they're open to negotiating this summer.

The player's desire

Ibrahima Konaté is clear: his priority is Real Madrid. He has already conveyed this to his inner circle and to the English club itself.

He sees Madrid as the opportunity of his life. Competing for titles, being part of a historic project, and establishing himself in the elite under Xabi Alonso's leadership. In fact, the French center-back would be willing to reject other offers to wait for the white team.

The Merengue leadership is handling the case with caution. They're evaluating the operation, but they don't plan to reach 50 million. They consider the price high for a player with only one year left on his contract.

The goal is to lower that figure. Around 25-30 million would be an acceptable amount for Florentino Pérez and his team.

They know Liverpool is in a delicate situation. If they don't sell now, they risk losing him for free in 2026.

Moreover, after Alexander-Arnold's departure, they don't want to add another painful exit in defense without getting a transfer benefit, but Konaté is determined.

Open ending

Everything suggests the outcome will be solved in August. Real Madrid, if it doesn't sign another center-back before then, will go all in for him and Konaté will wait until the end.

Liverpool wants to cash in, but at Bernabéu they're convinced their strategy will pay off.

The player has already made his choice. All that's left is for the clubs to reach an agreement and time is running out, running against the "reds." Florentino knows it and is playing his cards.
