Madrid Could Pay €54 Million for Plan B to Alphonso Davies and It Would Be Cheaper

There Is Already a Price for Davies's Alternative, Madrid Will Have to Dig Deep into Their Pockets

Since last summer, Real Madrid had been closely following Alphonso Davies's situation. He was willing to end his association with Bayern to land at Bernabéu. However, he ended up changing his mind and renewed his contract with the German team.

This led Real Madrid to start looking for alternatives for the left-back position. It's true that Miguel Gutiérrez seemed to be the favorite to occupy that position. But they were also considering another very interesting alternative, the Hungarian Milos Kerkez.

The left-back from Bournemouth is performing at a high level this season in the Premier League. Additionally, at 21 years old, he represents a long-term player, so they are studying his possible incorporation. Although they already know the money his club will demand to finalize the transfer this summer.

It's not going to be cheap as rumors suggest they won't sit down to negotiate for less than 54M. That amount might deter Real Madrid at the moment. Although they are starting to consider that it would be cheaper than if they had brought Davies.

Real Madrid Considers That Signing Davies Would Have Been Much More Expensive

It's true that Davies's contract is ending, and therefore they wouldn't have had to pay a transfer fee for him. However, they believe that the 54M for Kerkez would be less than what the Canadian would cost. Among other things, because of the signing bonus Alphonso was going to demand to finalize his arrival this summer.

Signings of players whose contracts are ending usually mean a signing bonus for the player. Additionally, the salary they often demand is higher, knowing they will compensate for it by not paying another team. That was precisely what was going to happen with Davies this coming summer.

Seeing the amounts the Canadian was demanding, Kerkez is a signing that would be more economical. Although for the moment, they have no intention of paying such a high transfer fee for him. They considered Davies a great market opportunity because he is a highly experienced player.
