Maldini 'cancels' Carreras's signing and chooses another full-back for Madrid
The surprising full-back Maldini has chosen to rule out Carreras's signing by Real Madrid
Throughout the entire season, one of the positions that caused the most doubts at Real Madrid was the left-back. Despite Ferland Mendy's excellent last campaign, being a great defensive reference, the Frenchman disappointed again. Meanwhile, Fran García failed to meet expectations at any point.
Due to this, Real Madrid has a clear intention to sign a new left-back for the imminent market. Although Álvaro Carreras emerged as the left-back chosen by Real Madrid, Maldini has ruled out his signing in favor of another star. "I think as a starter it would be Carreras or Grimaldo himself, whom I would love to see at Real Madrid."

Through these words, Maldini has strongly recommended Real Madrid to sign Alejandro Grimaldo. A left-back who managed to establish himself at Leverkusen under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, who is close to confirming his signing with Real Madrid.
Maldini's option
At 22 years old and having been a Real Madrid youth player, Álvaro Carreras is the left-back who convinced the club the most to be signed. His impressive debut season with Benfica, where he secured the starting position without issue, earned him Real Madrid's interest. However, his transfer is still not close to being confirmed by the club.
This has been clearly taken advantage of by Maldini to recommend the transfer of the experienced Alejandro Grimaldo. At 29 years old, Grimaldo is one of the most solid left-backs in all of Europe, standing out for his versatility on the field.

Contributing both to the attack and defense of Bayer Leverkusen, Grimaldo is a very complete left-back. With Maldini's extensive knowledge of this sport, it remains to be seen what decision Real Madrid will make following the recommendation of Grimaldo.
Real Madrid's new left-back
Being close to confirming the arrival of Xabi Alonso, the presence of the Spanish coach could be key for Grimaldo. Knowing the left-back perfectly, with whom he has a good relationship, Xabi could be decisive in realizing or not Maldini's desire.
