Maldini chooses between Fermín López and Arda Güler: 'The kind of soccer I like…'

One of the journalists who generates the most controversy every time he makes a statement is Julio Maldonado, better known as Maldini. This time is no exception. The Spaniard has decided to talk a bit about a comparison between players from Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. The comparison was between Arda Güler and Fermín López, where he proclaims the Madrid footballer as his favorite of the two.

"For the kind of soccer I like to watch, I enjoy watching Arda play more than Fermín," was his blunt response to one of his comments. This is clearly a hard blow for Barcelona fans, who were expecting a different reaction from a journalist very close to them. However, in the end, coherence has prevailed and, evidently, the young Turk is a much better player than the Barcelona footballer.

Preferences support Madrid

In an absolutely frantic summer where the white team seemed very calm, suddenly a young footballer from Türkiye was rumored to join the club. However, the intervention of FC Barcelona complicated everything and it seemed that the deal was going to be closed in favor of the Catalans. Nevertheless, Florentino Pérez stepped in at the last minute, thus taking the young prospect to the white team.

Today, he is one of the most relevant players for Alonso, who knows perfectly well that he can get the most out of him. A versatile footballer who knows how to organize the team's play to his liking, giving it width. These characteristics are by no means qualities of Fermín López, who, although he has done interesting things, is far behind in terms of versatility.

Maldini's response is more than clear, since it is not only about a footballer who has the ability to solve situations, but also aesthetic quality. The young Turk has shown that, at his age, he knows how to measure up to players of great stature, even older ones. For this reason, Alonso considers him one of his essential pillars in every starting eleven, and Ancelotti did not take advantage of him.

You just need to think a little

Except for Barcelona fans, everyone knows perfectly well that Arda is a better player than the homegrown Catalan and, moreover, by far. You just need to have a bit of critical thinking and set aside club loyalties to realize that the Madrid player is better.  But the important thing here is not to try to convince the stubborn, but rather to enjoy a player who is unique in his kind.
