Maldini Chooses between Vinícius and Lamine Yamal, and Why: 'Right Now...'
The analyst has given his opinion on the two soccer players and decides who is the best
Maldini's comments never leave anyone indifferent since he often gets into a lot of trouble. Especially when it comes to talking about players like Lamine Yamal and Vinícius. On this occasion, he wanted to compare them by choosing which one he would prefer.
A few months ago, he claimed that Vinícius would win the Ballon d'Or, and otherwise, it would be a great injustice. However, he has now pointed out that he would choose Lamine Yamal first. Although it's not surprising since he said that the award to Rodri was totally deserved, changing his opinion.
However, as we've mentioned, he points to the Barça forward ahead of the Madrid player for several reasons. The first is because "he's younger, not much younger, but that also counts." He also highlights his season by saying "he's providing assists beyond expectations."
That's why if he had to sign one of the two, he has it clear and opts for the Barça player. "If you tell me for the same price which player I prefer, I choose Lamine Yamal," Maldini acknowledges. A choice that will undoubtedly continue to raise expectations with the Barça player.
Vinícius's current situation condemns him in Maldini's choice
As we've already mentioned, Maldini was a firm defender of Vinícius as the Ballon d'Or winner. However, now, a few months later, he has radically changed his opinion on it. Although he hasn't criticized the Madrid player for this, he has pointed out what's penalizing him.
In fact, he has no qualms about acknowledging that "Vinícius seems like a spectacle to me," something that's indisputable. But Maldini also points out that "right now, with everything that's happening to him," it penalizes him. He also noted "his ability to drift away from matches."
It seems like this is going to be a debate that will be repeated very frequently in the coming years. The Brazilian knows that he's owed a Ballon d'Or, as was evident with the rest of the awards. And the Barça fans are trying to start the campaign to praise the Spanish international by any means.
