Manolo Lama reveals Barça's failure with Nico Williams, that's why they didn't sign him

The journalist from Cadena COPE explains why the Spanish international has renewed with Athletic Club

One more summer, Barcelona has once again been ridiculed in the market. From the Catalan city, they took for granted the arrival of Nico Williams, but he ultimately ended up renewing with Athletic Club de Bilbao. He will remain with the Basque team until 2035.

Many journalists who act as Laporta's spokespeople claimed that the Spanish international would go on to wear the blue and garnet jersey. However, everything fell through and Manolo Lama has revealed the reason on Partidazo de COPE.

According to the usual commentator for Real Madrid's matches, the footballer wanted a clause that would let him leave in case Barça couldn't register him within two months. This was the time frame Joan Laporta had.

This apparently didn't sit well in Barcelona and in the end, the signing didn't happen. Just like last year, Athletic Club de Bilbao comes out victorious in this matter. In San Mamés, they are very tired of the way the blaugrana team has behaved.

Liked at Real Madrid

Nico Williams is a player who is quite liked at Real Madrid. In the executive offices at Chamartín, they have talked about him a lot, but they make it clear that the bet is still on Vinícius Junior. The Brazilian is only 24 years old and has his whole career ahead of him.

Florentino Pérez's goal is to renew the '7' for Madrid. His current contract ends in 2027 and if an agreement is reached, it will extend his link until 2030 or 2031. There is still no common ground, but it seems that both parties are willing to move closer together.

The idea that the institution and 'Vini' himself have is none other than to keep making history in the capital of Spain. The sporting management insists that he is one of the best in the world, even though his last few months haven't been very good.

The important thing, after all, is that he has already shown his worth and with Xabi Alonso, he is expected to be able to get back to his best version.
