Mario Cortegana confirms Vini's request, stalled contract renewal and warning to the player
Madrid offered him 20 million euros per season, and the Brazilian is asking for 30, a request the club has rejected
Vinícius Júnior's future at Real Madrid is once again hanging in the air. The Brazilian's contract renewal is completely stalled. This is confirmed by journalist Mario Cortegana, who has provided details about the player's latest request and the club's firm response.
Vinícius rejected Madrid's first proposal. The club offered him a renewal with a salary close to €20 million net per season. However, the footballer's camp asked for more: about €30 million (30 millones), including base salary, bonuses, and a renewal signing bonus.
Florentino Pérez said no, and since then, there haven't been any advances. The negotiation has been stalled for months.
Vinícius Asked For More At His Worst Moment
Mario Cortegana has been blunt. “It makes no sense to ask for more money now. This is Vini's worst moment at Madrid since he broke out,” the journalist stated.

“He has much more to lose than to gain if he keeps going down that path. He's a beloved player, supported, and has a good life at the club. Not everything is about money,” he concluded.
Madrid's offer arrived at the beginning of 2024. The club consulted Vini's agent, Frederico Pena, and he relayed the figures.
After that disproportionate response, the talks cooled off. Nothing was officially broken off, but the situation remained frozen.
Vinícius is under contract until June 2027, but in January 2026, he'll enter his final 18 months. This is a red line for Florentino, who doesn't want to reach that point without an agreement because it would be dangerous.

The Brazilian signed his last renewal in 2022. He earns an average of €15 million (15 millones) net per season, with figures that increase progressively. He even had clauses for individual awards, but if Madrid were to accept his request now, he'd end up earning more than Mbappé, which the club doesn't consider.
Saudi Arabia No Longer Calls, The Clock Is Ticking
A few months ago, an offer from Saudi Arabia seemed tempting: one billion (mil millones) for five years, but it's no longer on the table.
Vinícius remains one of the most sought-after in the world, with a value of €170 million (170 millones), but for now, there aren't any formal proposals.
Real Madrid keeps calm because, for now, it controls the timing. Talks will resume in 2026 if there isn't a change before then, but that would be risky. Everything has become more complicated since Mbappé's arrival and the question of whether both fit into Xabi Alonso's system.
