Mbappé confirms it: Real Madrid has a new '10' and the club will make it official right away

Kylian Mbappé has been the protagonist of a striking yet brief saga at Real Madrid. The white footballer was  one of those chosen to take the number "10" after Luka Modric's departure, but there was a possibility that Arda Güler would wear it. From the Valdebebas offices, they have made a decision that puts an end to the doubts once and for all.

This is how the white player himself would have expressed it through an enigmatic post on his social media. The message published on X, formerly known as Twitter, barely contains a word: "10". With that number, many interpret that the Bondy striker has finally received the same number that he currently has with the French national team.

Real Madrid's dilemma regarding Luka Modric's succession in his number has not been easy. While it is true that Kylian Mbappé seemed the most natural and logical option for it, the presence of Arda Güler has sparked some debate. Not in vain, the Croatian attacking midfielder himself hinted at the idea that the Turkish "15" would inherit his number when he was no longer in Real Madrid's locker room.

This could not happen due to the intervention of the executives led by Florentino Pérez. The white leadership has expressly decided that Kylian Mbappé will take on this legendary number in the future, a decision that contrasts with the player's own will. The former "9" never asked for a change of number.

Everything decided

Not even when he knew, at the same time as all his teammates, that the Balkan attacking midfielder would not continue for the 25/26 season. Kylian Mbappé has not actively sought to take the number "10" at Real Madrid, buthe would have accepted without hesitation that number when it was recently offered to him.

This "confirmation" from Kylian Mbappé about his number change at Real Madrid is not the only pending move in the Valdebebas offices in this regard. The reconfiguration of the squad, with the departures and signings made to date, could lead to the modification of the current numbers.

Even if it were only due to small differences: one of the most striking cases is the "9", which Kylian Mbappé now leaves vacant to take on Luka Modric's "10". Both Endrick and Gonzalo García, theoretical substitutes for the French center forward, could wear that number... although only one of them can have a number that would make him Xabi Alonso's first option to replace the Bondy striker.

The same would happen with the numbers of footballers who are on the way out of the white locker room. Rodrygo Goes, Dani Ceballos, or Fran García may leave the Spanish capital this very summer and cause the remaining players to request a number change for the next season.
