Luka Modric, one of the best footballers in Real Madrid and soccer history, has announced through his social media that his time at the club has come to an end. After more than a decade of service, the white team has decided not to renew the Croatian midfielder's contract, putting an end to an unforgettable career that began in 2012.

The footballer, who wanted to continue for one more season, will not be part of Real Madrid's new sports project. At 39 years old, the genius from Zadar's talent was proven this last season, but the club has decided to look to the future without him. Santiago Bernabéu will be adorned to pay tribute to a unique footballer, who will be bid farewell with all honors in his last home match.

Luka Modric announced on his social media his departure from Real Madrid with a very emotional letter addressed to all Madridists. "Playing at Real Madrid changed my life as a footballer and as a person. I am proud to have been part of one of the most successful eras of the best club in history", it began.

"I want to sincerely thank the club, especially president Florentino Pérez. Also my teammates, coaches, and all the people who have helped me throughout this time.

Throughout these years, I have experienced unbelievable moments, comebacks that seemed impossible, finals, celebrations, and magical nights at the Bernabéu... We have won everything, and I have been very happy. Very, very happy.

But beyond the titles and victories, I carry in my heart the affection of all Madridists. I truly don't know how to explain the special connection I have with you and how supported, respected, and loved I have felt and still feel. I will never forget every ovation and all the gestures of affection you have shown me.

I leave with my heart full. Full of pride, gratitude, and unforgettable memories. And although, after the Club World Cup, I will no longer wear this jersey on the field, I will always be a Madridist.
