Neither Mastantuono nor Álvaro Carreras: this could be Real Madrid's next signing

Ceballos's lack of playing time and Bellingham's imminent shoulder surgery lead to considering the signing of a midfielder

Real Madrid remains alert to the market. Although all the attention was on Franco Mastantuono or Álvaro Carreras, there could be a surprise. The next signing for the Whites could arrive to strengthen the midfield.

This was revealed by journalist Nacho Peña on Radio Marca. “Bellingham is going to have surgery, and the fact that Ceballos didn't get any minutes yesterday... makes me think that Real Madrid is looking for a midfielder,” he explained on air.

The reflection hasn't gone unnoticed. Everything suggests that the club is already making moves.

Vitinha is the favorite

In recent weeks, multiple candidates have been mentioned. Among them, Vitinha, PSG's midfielder, is one of the most favored in Valdebebas. His profile fits Xabi Alonso's idea: technical, versatile, and with range.

Other names have also appeared on the club's agenda: Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart), Enzo Fernández (Chelsea), Mac Allister (Liverpool), and the Swede Hugo Larsson, the revelation from Eintracht.

All of them represent different profiles, but with the same goal: to strengthen the midfield in the face of possible departures and injuries.

Jude Bellingham's situation is something planned, and the club wants the Englishman to finally eliminate the shoulder discomfort that has hampered him all season. For this reason, he will undergo surgery after the Club World Cup.

His absence will force Xabi Alonso to modify the midfield. That's where the need to sign comes into play. Added to this is the situation of Dani Ceballos, who didn't play a single minute in the debut against Al-Hilal, which suggests that he isn't a major part of the new coach's plans.

Imminent move

With the Club World Cup underway, Real Madrid doesn't want to rush. But once the tournament ends, it could speed up a deal.

The club has financial muscle and options on the table. Everything will depend on the team's progress and performance in the competition, which will determine Xabi Alonso's requests, and on the departures that are confirmed.

What is clear is that, while there was talk of full-backs or young prospects, the next signing could be in the midfield. At Madrid, when there's a need, there's always a reaction.
