A new attack by Tebas against Real Madrid on the first matchday of La Liga

The decision of the top national competition is not at all appreciated by the leadership of the white club

The calendar setup for the upcoming league campaign has already sparked the first controversies. The entity chaired by Javier Tebas set kick-off times for the start of the 25/26 season in our country, a decision that raises quite a few reasonable doubts in the Valdebebas offices.

Given this situation, the executives led by Florentino Pérez requested a change in the schedule for the first matchday of LaLiga 25/26: a match against Osasuna, to be played at Santiago Bernabéu. The final decision of the top national competition not only goes against Real Madrid's plans but also the recommendation of the Professional Footballers' Association of our country.

Real Madrid and AFE's claims, based on previous meetings with the captains of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, are aimed at postponing the start of LaLiga 25/26. After all, the Merengue side has reached the final stages of the Club World Cup, a condition that was essential to trigger that delay of the first matchday.

The agreement states that footballers are entitled to 30 days of vacation: of that entire period, at least 21 must be taken consecutively. The start of LaLiga 25/26 on August 19, against Osasuna at Santiago Bernabéu, interferes with that provision set by the Spanish Footballers' Association.

Another point of friction

In response to that decision made by Javier Tebas's entity, Real Madrid has made it clear that it will keep fighting for its rights as a club. The executives led by Florentino Pérez see hostilities intensify on one of its longest-standing and most controversial fronts, given the multiple lawsuits it has with LaLiga.

Javier Tebas has attracted much of the spotlight in recent weeks due to the calendar for the upcoming league campaign, as well as the Club World Cup. So much so that he predicted, "I'll do everything possible so that it won't be played again", a competition that, according to the Spanish boss, would affect the normal development of its competition.

Javier Tebas shows he is against that competition organized by FIFA not only for organizational reasons or footballers' rest. He even made it clear that "they ask for more days to rest, but they earn 140 million euros, twice Alavés's budget, and then they ask for time to prepare. We lose perspective", concludes the LaLiga boss.

That clear reference to Real Madrid's request to postpone the start of the 25/26 league season causes a greater rift with the white board of directors. The significant differences between the white club and the LaLiga president, however, won't prevent Real Madrid from fighting for its rights to a normal vacation.
