From being the new Kroos to possibly leaving Real Madrid this summer, a very likely sale
Dani Ceballos has had periods of being very important, but his starting position is not guaranteed with Xabi Alonso
Dani Ceballos's future is hanging in the air again. The Andalusian midfielder, who just a few months ago seemed to establish himself as a reliable replacement for Toni Kroos, now appears on the list of possible departures from Real Madrid.
Ceballos's season has been inconsistent. He started with very few minutes. Then, thanks to several absences in midfield, he took advantage of his opportunity.
He had stretches of good form that pleased Carlo Ancelotti. He looked more relaxed, involved, and showed personality. Just when he was at his best, a new injury arrived.
This time, it was his hamstrings, which kept him out for two months. He returned in April, but he hasn't yet regained the form that won hearts in January and February. He finished the campaign with minutes against Real Sociedad, although without standing out.
Now, with summer ahead, his future is uncertain.
The club doesn't rule him out... but they aren't keeping him either
Ceballos is under contract until 2027. Real Madrid doesn't want to force his departure, especially after Luka Modric's exit.
The squad doesn't have an abundance of midfielders, especially of his creative profile. That's why his sale isn't ruled out, but it's not a priority either.

The club will leave the decision in the player's hands. If he wants to stay, there will be a place for him. He isn't guaranteed an important role.
Everything will depend on what Xabi Alonso decides, Madrid's new coach, when he evaluates his players in Valdebebas.
As of today, it's believed that Ceballos won't be a regular starter. That could lead him to seek a move in search of more prominence.
Club World Cup and key decision
The 2025 Club World Cup is just around the corner. Madrid needs rotation and squad depth. That's why it's possible Ceballos will stay, although with a secondary role.

However, his future will be solved soon and preseason will be key. If he doesn't see clear opportunities, a sale is very likely. The market will decide.
From promising to be Kroos's heir, to having to make an important decision this summer. This is Dani Ceballos's situation.
