Official: Ancelotti says goodbye to Real Madrid after making history, the club announces it.

The Reggiolo manager will officially stop being the white team's coach in just a few days

After a wait that has felt long, Real Madrid has published the official statement announcing Carlo Ancelotti's departure. That announcement, published on the club's website, states that "they have reached an agreement to end his tenure as Real Madrid's coach" this very season. They also want to "express their gratitude and affection to someone who is one of the great legends of Real Madrid and world soccer".

This way, an official farewell is given to a coach whose future has been known for some time. The official statement from the CBF, last week, confirmed that the Reggiolo coach would become the new coach of the Canarinha on May 26. The Italian coach himself confirmed this move in a press conference.

Carlo Ancelotti's departure signifies the farewell of a legend for Real Madrid. In six years, the Italian strategist has won fifteen titles. This figure places him in the Olympus of the most successful Madrid coaches, surpassing other great figures in the recent and ancient history of the Madrid club.

So much so that the transalpine coach will leave the home bench of Santiago Bernabéu locker room as the most decorated coach in the club's history. His fifteen titles surpass by just one title the record set by Miguel Muñoz, another legendary figure on the white benches, during the last century.

The farewell of a legend

Carlo Ancelotti's first stage barely spanned two seasons: the 13/14 season and the 14/15 campaign. However, the Reggiolo coach was very close to winning two Leagues. He also challenged FC Barcelona's dominance in national soccer, winning the 13/14 Copa del Rey, and brought joy to Madrid fans by breaking the continental curse at the Estádio da Luz.

The achievement of the desired Décima under Carlo Ancelotti's tactical command will be one of the great moments of the Italian coach. Six years after his departure as the Madrid coach, the veteran coach returned to Santiago Bernabéu to take charge of the team in the 21/22 season. His return was triumphant, adding a League-Champions League double, as well as a good Spanish Super Cup won against FC Barcelona.

His 22/23 campaign offered more discreet results despite the victory in the Copa del Rey. Especially due to the painful elimination in the Champions League semi-final second leg: that thrashing against Manchester City jeopardized his continuity. But the Italian coach regained the board's trust with a spectacular performance in the 23/24 season: another League-Champions double to add 37 domestic titles and 15 continental titles.

The legacy Carlo Ancelotti leaves at Real Madrid is on par with his time as a coach in the European soccer elite. The Reggiolo coach leaves in a season with worse results than desired... which in the long run will not tarnish the memory of all that the Italian coach achieved during his six years with Madrid.
