The Olmo scandal continues, Uribes now points to Tebas: 'Strictly legal'

He blames Tebas for the registration of the Barça player, even though Barça did not comply with Fair Play

During last season, Dani Olmo was one of the main figures due to Barça's situation. The blaugranas used all kinds of tricks to register him in national competitions. Although LaLiga didn't admit it since they considered that the way they did it was illegal.

That didn't seem to matter to them since they went to the CSD, which ended up doing the blaugranas a favor. It seems that the scandal hasn't ended after the latest statements on the matter. José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of the Higher Sports Council, spoke with Josep Pedrerol.

In the podcast, he pointed at Tebas again after the resolution of the case they delivered. He indicated that the appeal they submitted "we solved it with strictly legal criteria". He still had another criticism for the president of LaLiga for what happened.

"When someone makes a decision through a body that isn't competent and without following the established procedure, that decision is completely void" Uribes said during his speech. Therefore, a mistake by LaLiga would have allowed Dani Olmo's registration.

Dani Olmo registered despite skipping fair play

Uribes explained the reasons that led him to authorize Dani Olmo's registration for Barça. He also admitted that they didn't assess whether the blaugranas skipped fair play. So his decision showed the inequality of Spanish soccer in favor of the blaugranas.

"We haven't gotten into fair play" Uribes made clear regarding this issue. "Nor should we, nor can we, nor would it have occurred to me to assess whether Barça complies with the economic rules," he said. So with the blaugrana club outside legality, Olmo was allowed to be registered.

The CSD washes its hands by saying that this isn't its responsibility and they didn't assess that. Only that LaLiga didn't do things as they should according to the law, which is why it made that decision. He also points out that he spoke with Florentino afterward, not as Tebas indicated that he had influenced.
