From packing his bags with Ancelotti to starting with Xabi, he halts his Madrid farewell

Arda Güler feels happy with Xabi Alonso on the bench and believes he can earn the quality minutes he did not have

Arda Güler has radically changed his situation at Real Madrid. He went from being on the verge of leaving the club to being excited about becoming a starter in Xabi Alonso's new project. Everything has changed in a matter of days and the reason is clear: the new coach trusts him.

The young Turk has already shown it in the debut against Al Hilal. He came on in the 66th minute and changed the game. He was direct, bold, and eager to prove himself.

He had a very clear chance, a shot that hit the crossbar after a good cross from Vinicius. He regretted it, yes, but he also earned Xabi's respect.

Fits in Xabi Alonso's idea

Xabi bets on talent because he likes creative, technical players with vision. Arda Güler fits perfectly into that mold since he isn't a pure winger or a classic midfielder. He's a footballer who floats between the lines, who finds spaces where others don't see them.

During his time at Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi found his key man in Florian Wirtz. Arda isn't a copy, but at times he does remind people of the German. Both are intelligent, left-footed, and unpredictable. The coach's idea is to enhance his football and Güler knows it.

Renewed trust and change of plans

With Ancelotti, Arda didn't feel like a protagonist and opportunities were scarce. His camp was already considering the option of leaving this summer, but with Xabi, everything has changed. He feels he's going to play and that now he will get quality minutes.

The squad renewal and Luka Modric's departure open the door for him. Xabi wants a team that combines young talent with experience and Arda, at just 20 years old, is ready and has shown it every time he's stepped on the field.

The Club World Cup could be his springboard. If he keeps this level, his role will grow a lot this season and both his camp and the club are aware of it. That's why, for now, any option to leave is on hold.

Arda has gone from being in doubt to being a firm bet. Xabi is clear about it: Güler is the present and also the future.
