Panic in Barcelona: Lamine Yamal Will Leave Barça or Will Squeeze Them Dry

One of the LaLiga players is, without a doubt, Lamine Yamal. The Barca's '19' emerged as one of the leaders of the team thanks to his talent and places him on the agenda of several clubs. Before he leaves the City of Barcelona, the board led by Laporta wants to tie his future to the Catalan club with a major renewal.

The Spanish player's salaries, destined to be the 'new Messi' who can lead Hansi Flick's sports project, are one of the most concerning issues now. The conversations about the fees the right winger might request have given rise to all kinds of speculations that Yamal has nipped in the bud.

Taking advantage of Barcelona's qualification for the round of 16, the '19' has made it clear that his renewal "is a matter for my agents". The young talent from Rocafonda distances himself from any negotiation, stating that "I just want to play, win here". The desire to continue wearing the Barcelona jersey has been evident on more than one occasion.

This has been demonstrated by Yamal himself with statements like this. "I want to keep playing games, I'm not thinking about that. I think I have to focus on playing and above all keep working", the Barça forward asserts about a possible renewal.

High-stakes dilemma

His current youth contract ends in the summer of 2026. The executives led by Laporta don't want that to happen and would be preparing a major renewal offer, already with a professional contract, for when the striker turns 18 years old. This approach foresees a considerable increase in his salary, perhaps to place him as one of the players at the top of Barça salary scale.

But the possibility of him leaving the City of Barcelona is much more real than it seems based on his statements. The interest of several elite European football teams in acquiring his services, such as PSG, is the main challenge for the culé board's leaders. Especially because there are many doubts about his choice: staying at FC Barcelona, his dream club, or the exorbitant financial figures of a state club.

Aware of his own market possibilities, many predict that Yamal's agents will seek to secure their client's highest possible salary  in the upcoming negotiations. That is the main 'fear' currently emanating from FC Barcelona, whose financial situation is still not on par with other elite European teams.

In any case, everything points to Joan Laporta doing whatever he can to ensure the continuity of his top star. FC Barcelona has slowly returned to the forefront of the Champions League thanks to the '19'... and the culé president doesn't want to lose his great chance to definitively escape the crisis in which this historic world football club finds itself.
