Pedrerol Justifies Yamal's Gesture when Taking a Photo with a Young Madrid Fan
The host of "El Chiringuito de Jugones" made an unexpected comment about this gesture that's been widely shared on social media
The aftermath of the Spanish Supercopa final is still being felt at Real Madrid after the thrashing by Barcelona. That way of falling in an important tournament to achieve a perfect season has left many images that generate some debate, especially when it comes to the stars of both teams.
One of the most recent involves Lamine Yamal. The Barça "19" was one of the standout players of the final, scoring a goal and being a real nightmare for the weakened Meringue defense. However, after the game, carried away by the euphoria of winning this title, he made a gesture that hasn't gone unnoticed.
Because he agreed to take a photo with a child wearing a Madrid jersey. Far from rejecting this snapshot, something many other players would have taken as a course of action, the center-forward decided to cover the badge of Florentino's entity consciously. This gesture with his right hand, to prevent the Madrid badge from appearing in the photograph, has been widely commented on in various ways.
Especially because for some time the winger was linked with a possible transfer by the white club... given the intense Madrid passion his father seemed to exhibit in the not-too-distant past. Although that instance is more than closed, Yamal insists: he doesn't want anything to do with Madrid.
Difference in sight?
Others have interpreted this gesture as a lack of respect for Real Madrid: covering the merengue badge would be unnecessary because Yamal's loyalty to FC Barcelona is well-known. On El Chiringuito de Jugones, they've analyzed this decision made by the Barça forward and Josep Pedrerol has made it clear that it's not as striking a gesture as it seems at first.
The comment from the sports talk show host, dismissing it with a "well...", suggests that it doesn't deserve more criticism or analysis. Understanding that Yamal was within his rights to cover the Madrid badge, one can only wonder if a player from the merengue entity would have acted in the same way...
Had they done so, many followers of the white club have doubts about the opinion caused in the media. Especially if the one making that gesture is Vinícius Jr.: the "7" verdeamarelo, regardless of his behavior, is always in the media spotlight since he arrived in Santiago Bernabéu locker room.
Be that as it may, this gesture by Lamine Yamal is a new controversy that Carlo Ancelotti's pupils want to distance themselves from. There are more important matters, like the visit of Celta de Vigo for the Copa del Rey: that match will be key to setting the pace for the current season... and the future of the Reggiolo coach as the Madridist manager.
