Pedri sees himself as Ballon d'Or winner and gets slammed with comebacks
The player feels like a strong candidate to win the award, but the fans don't include him in their predictions
Pedri, midfielder for FC Barcelona, has once again expressed his ambition to win the Ballon d'Or. In an interview with France Football, the Canary Islander stated that he doesn't rule out taking home the greatest individual award in soccer.
"Forwards often win it, but Rodri's award shows that midfielders can also be recognized. Why can't I dream of winning it someday?" he declared confidently.
A step forward after a great season
The blaugrana player was one of Barça's most outstanding last season: "I worked hard and performed at a good level. As a team, we also improved, although the defeat against Inter still weighs on us," he admitted.

His goal is now clear: "We want to reach the Champions League final." He also fondly recalled his goal in the Copa del Rey final, a special moment for him and his family.
Pedri valued the mix of youth and experience in the locker room and highlighted that many players have carried Barça's philosophy since they were children. "The playing style is instilled from childhood. That gives us identity," he commented.
The rain of "zascas" from the fans
Despite Pedri's ambition, many fans have questioned his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or. On social media, they highlight other players whom they see as having better chances.
Names like Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Vitinha, or Dembélé, all of them midfielders or wingers with great prominence, are mentioned as favorites. Popular opinion suggests that these footballers are ahead of Pedri in the race for the award.

Pedri and his personal growth
Since Hansi Flick's arrival, Pedri has felt supported and confident: "Having a coach who believes in me helps me keep calm and enjoy myself," he explained.
He also highlighted the importance of returning to Spotify Camp Nou: "We miss playing there. The atmosphere is unique," he stated.
Although Barça didn't play in the Club World Cup, Pedri sees the positive side: "Those of us who rested will have a physical and mental advantage."
Finally, he described himself as "just another Brazilian" because of the joy with which he enjoys soccer, as happens in the Canary Islands and Brazil. He also has a good connection with Raphinha, whom he calls a "crack" and with whom he gets along very well both on and off the field.
Pedri keeps his ambition and works to convince everyone, despite the criticism and competition.
