Asensio's photo with Real Madrid's next signing goes viral, unseen photo

The young Canarian center-back could meet again with this former Real Madrid youth player

One of the signings Real Madrid has planned for its weakened defensive line is at left-back. Fran García and Ferland Mendy's performance this season hasn't convinced the club's executives, especially the performance of the French '23'... marked by physical instability that seems to be one of his major weaknesses.

In that sense, Valdebebas offices would have prepared an action plan to renew that position. The footballer chosen for this purpose is an old acquaintance of the club, given that he was trained in La Fábrica: Álvaro Carreras. Now at Benfica, the Spanish defender is the number one candidate to take on the left-back position for the first team.

It is well known that Álvaro Carreras spent several years completing his football training at La Fábrica. But one of the most striking images from that period directly links him with one of the newcomers to the first team: Raúl Asencio, a center-back who now seems indispensable.

The snapshot was taken in the 17/18 season, when Raúl Asencio and Álvaro Carreras were part of the same lower category of Real Madrid. They are both preparing for a trip with the team for a match away from Valdebebas, as the image is taken in the glassed boarding corridor to a plane.

Reunion in sight

That photograph has gone viral in recent hours due to Real Madrid's deep interest in acquiring Álvaro Carreras. The now Benfica left-back could join the first team next summer, a circumstance that depends on the club's board, and reunite with Raúl Asencio.

Many Madridists view this signing as a positive sign. Not only because it would definitively solve one of the major problems the team has faced this season. It would also prove that La Fábrica continues to produce great football talents over the last fifteen years.

The incorporation of former youth players could expand more than it seems during the summer 2025 market. Real Madrid has noted on its list of potential names like Nico Paz, currently on loan at Como 1907, who could fit into a midfield in need of creative midfielders.

The talent exodus that La Fábrica makes effective every summer produces spectacular results. Not only in potential players like Álvaro Carreras or Nico Paz, because it has also provided fantastic players to the recent past: Dani Carvajal, Joselu, or Lucas Vázquez are some examples.
