Poli Rincón reveals the signing Madrid will finalize in 10 days: a matter of honor
Real Madrid had a finalized agreement with Benfica for Álvaro Carreras, and the Portuguese club broke its word
Real Madrid hasn't forgotten about Álvaro Carreras. According to Poli Rincón, the signing already has a date to be finalized and it'll happen after the release clause is paid.
"Madrid will pay the clause as soon as the Club World Cup ends. It's a matter of honor," said the former footballer during the roundtable on Rubén Martín's Twitch channel.
The club feels betrayed
Carlos Carpio from Marca explained that the agreement with Benfica was finalized before the tournament. They'd even agreed on the price: €54 million (54 millones de euros) to be paid in two installments. The goal was to register Carreras and have him play in the Club World Cup right away.
But everything fell apart. According to Rincón, Real Madrid trusted the Portuguese club's word and didn't sign the contract. That's when Benfica surprised everyone by registering the player and blocking the deal.
"Madrid believes Benfica pulled a fast one on them", he said clearly.

They're not going to let it go
From Bernabéu, they're not willing to let the move go unanswered. That's why, as soon as the team's participation in the tournament ends, they'll trigger the release clause.
The clause is set at €50 million (50 millones) and the move will be unilateral. There won't be any room for Benfica to try to renegotiate or to block the deal.
"They're going to do it out of pride. Madrid won't allow these kinds of situations and the anger with Benfica is significant," Poli concluded.
A key signing for Xabi Alonso
Álvaro Carreras is the chosen one to strengthen Real Madrid's left back position. Xabi Alonso wants a young profile, with potential and someone who fits his playing style.

The academy product of Real Madrid and Manchester United is shining in Portugal and is liked for his attacking character, physical ability, and maturity.
Despite the setback before the tournament, the club hasn't changed its goal. They've only postponed the move for a few days.
Everything indicates that, within a maximum of 10 days, Carreras will be a new Madrid player. As Poli Rincón said, it won't be just for sporting needs. It'll also be a clear message from the club: at Real Madrid, a promise is kept.
