Proof That Tebas Harms Real Madrid with Schedules, Uncovered

Real Madrid is the team with the most matches played with less than 72 hours of rest

The last League matchday next weekend was marked by a controversial episode before the start of the Villarreal - Real Madrid game. Through its official television channel, "RMTV" reported that the team would never play a match under those conditions again. The club denounced the few days of rest after the exhausting penalty shootout victory against Atlético de Madrid the previous Wednesday.

In response to the situation, Real Madrid announced that, if it happens again, they would seek the protection of FIFA. Additionally, the club stated that "the abuse by Tebas's League will not be allowed."

A Decision That Provoked Carlo Ancelotti's Anger

These statements were supported by both the club and its coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who expressed his frustration at the press conference.

"I don't understand it, the minimum is 72 hours; money is prioritized, television rights... not the players' recovery. Money is prioritized, not the players' rest," the Italian coach pointed out.

"This is the last time we're going to play a match before 72 hours, never again. We've asked LaLiga twice to change the match schedule and nothing has happened. If it happens again, we won't show up," commented a visibly upset Carlo Ancelotti with LaLiga.

How Many Times Has Real Madrid Played With Less Than 72 Hours of Rest?

The data doesn't lie, and Real Madrid relies on it to denounce the treatment by Javier Tebas's LaLiga to the reigning champion.

Up to 7 clubs participated in European competitions this season: Real Madrid, Barça, Atlético, Girona, Real Sociedad, Athletic, and Betis.

Among them, Girona is the club that has had to endure those 72 hours of rest between matches the least. It was only 5 times, but the Catalan team was eliminated from the regular phase of the Champions, so it's normal.

However, Real Madrid's situation is the opposite: they have played with less than 72 hours of rest on 18 occasions. The same as Real Betis. Both teams have suffered this consequence the most so far this season.

They are followed by Real Sociedad with 15 matches. Additionally, it is noteworthy that other clubs like FC Barcelona or Atlético de Madrid have such low numbers: 11 and 10, respectively. Athletic Club also accumulates 11.
