Radical change with Álvaro Carreras: Real Madrid takes a turn in the negotiation

The Madridist team continues working on signing the Spanish footballer from SL Benfica

In recent hours, Real Madrid has encountered difficulties in negotiations with Benfica for the signing of Álvaro Carreras. The Portuguese club made a decisive move this past Sunday by including the player in the squad that will travel to the United States. At Da Luz, they were clear that the footballer had to play in the Club World Cup with them no matter what.

The main obstacle has been Benfica's firm stance, as they have refused to lower the footballer's release clause, set at €50 million. This rigidity has affected the entire operation, and the player's registration with the Lisbon team for the international tournament could mean a delay in his possible arrival at the white team.

Since Benfica has registered Álvaro Carreras, he is ineligible to be registered by another team in the Club World Cup. This means he couldn't play in the tournament with Real Madrid and wouldn't join the white club until after the championship. This represents a significant obstacle, as the Madrid side had planned to trigger his release clause starting July 1.

Real Madrid's new plan to sign Álvaro Carreras

At this point, Real Madrid will follow another path to secure the signing of the Madrid youth product. According to Mario Cortegana, a journalist at "The Athletic", the goal is to lower the clause to about €50 million and pay it in installments. Moreover, more talks are expected in the coming days with Benfica, since the agreement with the full-back is complete.

Meanwhile, at Real Madrid, Benfica's disloyal attitude toward Álvaro Carreras has caused great surprise. This is especially striking, since from Concha Espina an agreement had already been reached with the Portuguese club.

However, the white team doesn't plan to leave Álvaro Carreras stranded at Benfica, a club where he doesn't want to keep playing. The footballer's dream is to return to Madrid and, although the process is taking longer, those at Chamartín trust everything will be solved.
