Real Madrid Doesn't Trust Zubimendi and Has a Plan B, He's a Serie A Star Player
Florentino Pérez is keeping an eye on Zubimendi and another player who might leave Serie A
Real Madrid is already moving its pieces for the upcoming winter market. And Éderson, midfielder from Atalanta, has emerged as a solid alternative to Martín Zubimendi. The Real Sociedad player is the main target for the Meringue club, however, Florentino isn't quite confident that his transfer will happen.
For that very reason, according to reports from the newspaper AS, the Madrid club has initiated the first contacts to feel out the player. His agent knows that Éderson is shining in Serie A with an Atalanta that's in second place under the guidance of Piero Gasperini. This is causing the player to receive several offers to join the most powerful clubs in Europe.
Éderson, half of Europe's desire
Atalanta already rejected offers exceeding 50 million euros in the last market, and projections place a possible sale around 60 millions. The Brazilian player is under contract until 2027, so his sale would have to be through a transfer.
Besides Real Madrid, other clubs in Europe are very interested in transfer him. Manchester United, City, or Atlético de Madrid have already considered Éderson to strengthen their teams. For this reason, if the white club wants to make his transfer, it will have to do so as soon as possible.
In case Martín Zubimendi doesn't arrive
Éderson's performance in the match between Atalanta and Real Madrid in December left a great impression on the merengue offices. His physical and tactical display was key to containing figures like Vinícius, Bellingham, and Valverde, putting him on Juni Calafat's radar. However, as we've already mentioned, Atalanta won't make his sale easy.
Although Martín Zubimendi remains the priority due to his experience in LaLiga, Florentino Pérez understands that he needs to have another option. At Real Madrid, Éderson is highly regarded, and the sports management also considers alternative profiles, like the Brazilian's, to expand the options.
The Basque pivot would be the ideal option for a Real Madrid that needs a player to provide control in the midfield. Nonetheless, Éderson's arrival would also be positive, as the team would add a very strong asset to the midfield.
