Real Madrid Humiliates Atlético, FIFA Decides Who Rules the Capital and the World
The International Federation offered a preview of what to expect at the Club World Cup this summer
The aftermath of the Madrid classic in the round of 16 is still ongoing. Although there is still a week left for the conclusion of this knockout stage, the differences between both teams are becoming increasingly noticeable. This time it's about FIFA, which recently held its Council to discuss the Club World Cup.
The new competition launched by the entity presided over by Gianni Infantino aims to compete directly with other tournaments, such as those organized by UEFA. One of its strongest bets, besides having teams from all over the world, is in the prize money. Because the majority of the money, approximately 65% will go to the European clubs participating in this Club World Cup.

It should be noted that FIFA, on several occasions, has stated that the profits that clubs generate during their journey through the Club World Cup will fall entirely into their own treasuries. Unlike the system managed by UEFA, the income caused between June 14 and July 13 will be distributed among the participating clubs according to their relevance and visibility.
The team that will receive the most money for participating in this first edition of the Club World Cup is Real Madrid. The current Champions League champion, according to the data provided by FIFA, would receive about 35 million euros for being present in the first matches of this competition. That is a figure to beat that not even Manchester City, champion of the last Club World Cup, is close to achieving.
Clear Differences
Following those criteria of relevance and visibility, the other Spanish participant will receive 20 million euros at the start of the Club World Cup. FIFA seems to have very clear, with that decision, the differences between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid: the red-and-white entity would have less prestige than the team presided over by Florentino Pérez. The position of the squad coached by Diego Pablo Simeone in the ranking, a meritorious eighth place, leaves it below elite clubs like PSG or Juventus.
The good records of Atlético de Madrid are not sufficient arguments to keep the debate open regarding a rivalry with Real Madrid. Quite the opposite, since FIFA has decided to point to the merengue club as the best club in Spain and Europe. It is not for nothing that it is the one that will receive the most money for its participation in the Club World Cup and in case it reaches and wins the final in Miami.

The distribution of the money caused by the teams during the Club World Cup, according to the organizing entity, will be ordered based on audiences, achievements, and commercial appeal. Thus, it makes a lot of sense that Real Madrid is the club with the most money at stake during this competition: the Madrid treasury could pocket up to 145 million euros.
But there are still several months until that competition. First, the fight for the LaLiga leadership must be solved, a race in which Real Madrid has lost a lot of ground. There is also the pending path to the Sixteenth and the return leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals against Real Sociedad at Santiago Bernabéu.
