Vinícius and Real Madrid Negotiate the Renewal and Reveal How Much the Brazilian Asks

Both parties exchange impressions about key aspects of the possible signing of the Brazilian striker

One of the priorities that Real Madrid would have set for the 25/26 season is to make the contract extension of Vinícius Jr. a reality. What seemed like rumors without much depth during the summer of 2024 have turned into a "matter of state" in the Valdebebas offices according to many sources. Several media outlets reveal the unease that is felt at Real Madrid over the "Vinícius case".

Because Saudi Arabia doesn't hide its determination or its desire to acquire the current "7" of the merengue team. The executives led by Florentino Pérez are not willing to let one of their stars leave so easily and have drawn the line. Any team that wishes to sign Vinícius before the summer of 2027, when his contract ends, must pay the release clause valued at 1 billion euros.

Not even the proposals from teams like Al-Hilal seem to align with that idea. That's why they would have appealed directly to the footballer and his entourage, hoping to force a change in the situation and get Vinícius to request his departure from the Madrid board. According to Manu Carreño, the star from São Gonçalo would have expressed his "intentions to earn more money at Real Madrid in light of the offer from Saudi Arabia".

The journalist from Cadena SER points out that "Madrid already knows that Vinícius wants to surpass that 15 million net barrier and reach 20-25" with his renewal. The director of 'El Larguero', in light of these demands sent by the South American player, has many doubts. "We'll see what Real Madrid decides and if they say 'yes' or if they say 'no'", the journalist notes.

No Common Ground... For Now

Also  "we'll see what Vinícius decides, who also has that offer from Saudi Arabia of 200 million per year for five seasons". Manu Carreño reveals that in Saudi Arabia they are clear that "they will come back for Vinícius. For now, Vinícius has told Madrid 'I want to stay here, but I want to earn more because look at what they offer me in Saudi Arabia'", claims that are very much to be considered.

Manu Carreño warns that Real Madrid would not easily yield to Vinícius's salary demands. "What I don't know is what Vinícius will do if Madrid tells him 'I don't see it', having that offer on the table", the journalist notes. But the option of Saudi Arabia is not as appealing as it seems: "I'm told that Vinícius is not entirely 'in love' with it".

The verdeamarelo striker would not want to leave Santiago Bernabéu locker room, "because he prioritizes staying at Madrid above all else", but spending five years in Saudi Arabia "is something too extensive". That "possible adventure in Saudi soccer" that Manu Carreño talks about "would be a bit overwhelming for Vinícius" due to the temporal considerations of the offer.

Right now, Manu Carreño concludes, the white forward would be waiting for a response from Real Madrid to his salary demands.  "Madrid is in no hurry" because Vinícius "has a contract until 2027" and there would still be plenty of time to adjust concepts and figures in future negotiations in the coming summers.
