Real Madrid's signing if Álvaro Carreras doesn't arrive: Xabi Alonso gives the OK to plan B

Álvaro Carreras's signing is becoming more complicated than desired. Real Madrid still haven't closed a deal with Benfica and time is starting to run out. That's why the sporting management is already considering a very serious alternative: Alejandro Grimaldo.

Bayer Leverkusen's full-back returns to the scene as a real option. Grimaldo is paying close attention to what happens in the coming hours. He is certain that if the Carreras deal doesn't go through, his name will be back on the table.

Grimaldo wants to return to Spain

The former Benfica player doesn't hide his desire to return to LaLiga. Even more so if it's to Real Madrid. Although he has offers from England, his priority is Spanish soccer. He trusts Xabi Alonso, with whom he has worked at Leverkusen, to take action if plan A falls through.

In fact, the player is ready to leave this summer. He feels that he has completed a cycle in the Bundesliga and would be very pleased to wear white. He is just waiting for the call.

Carreras, further and further away

Portugal aren't giving in. Benfica keeps demanding a figure that Madrid aren't willing to pay. The attempt to sign him for the Club World Cup already failed, and now everything seems to be cooling off even more.

Álvaro Carreras wants to come, but his club isn't making his departure easy. Negotiations are blocked and a short-term solution isn't in sight.

Real Madrid is clear that it needs to strengthen the left-back position. Mendy still hasn't fully convinced and Fran García, for now, is seen as a rotation piece.

Xabi Alonso has given the green light to Grimaldo. He knows him well, trusts his level, and knows what he can contribute. The player, meanwhile, is eager for that second chance to arrive.

If the Carreras deal doesn't get unlocked soon, Grimaldo could become the new signing in white. Everything depends on the coming days, but plan B is already prepared and approved.
