The Reason Mbappé Dedicated His Free-Kick Goal to Luis Llopis Wasn't a Coincidence
Kylian Mbappé facilitated Real Madrid's victory against CD Leganés thanks to his two goals
Real Madrid achieved an important victory this past Saturday against CD Leganés, keeping them tied in points with FC Barcelona. The Whites prevailed thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappé and a goal from Jude Bellingham. Even so, the visitors made the reigning champions suffer with two goals in the first half.
Kylian Mbappé was responsible for opening the scoring with a penalty. Later, the Frenchman scored Real Madrid's third goal with a free kick, the first of his career. Brahim Díaz set the ball firmly, and the Bondy native placed it out of Marko Dmitrovic's reach.

Kylian Mbappé in Pursuit of a Record
With his two goals against CD Leganés, Kylian Mbappé has reached 33 goals for the season with Real Madrid. The Frenchman continues to establish himself as one of the players with the most goals in his first year with the club.
In fact, Kylian Mbappé matched the number of goals Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 2009/10 season. He also tied with Ruud Van Nistelrooy. However, the Frenchman needed 45 matches, while the Portuguese did it in 35.
Kylian Mbappé's next target is Iván Zamorano. The forward remains the player who scored the most goals with Real Madrid in his first season with 37 goals in the 1992/93 campaign.
Who Did Kylian Mbappé Dedicate His Second Goal To?
After scoring the direct free kick that made it 3-2 on the scoreboard, Kylian Mbappé ran and jumped toward the technical area. There, besides Carlo Ancelotti, was Luis Llopis, the goalkeeping coach of the Whites.
In recent weeks, Llopis himself had reportedly been the one to tell Ancelotti that Kylian Mbappé should be the free-kick taker. The Italian listened, and the Frenchman didn't disappoint anyone with his great strike that ended in the net.
Kylian Mbappé, right after scoring, went toward Luis Llopis to thank him for the confidence in him. Surely, it won't be the only free-kick goal the Bondy native scores with Real Madrid.
