Rodrygo loses ground, goodbye to Chelsea and City over a former Barça player, warning in Germany

Rodrygo is in trouble, and now City and Chelsea are turning their attention to a former Barça player who is of greater interest

Rodrygo is one of the names that's been rumored to leave the Merengue institution for several months now. Now there's talk of a possible move to clubs like Chelsea or Manchester City, but something may have changed recently.  In Germany, there's talk of both clubs being interested in Xavi Simons, which leaves no place for the Brazilian in the Premier League.

This RB Leipzig footballer has been one of its biggest stars throughout his time at the German club. Now he could arrive in the Premier League as one of the most important summer signings instead of the Merengue player. This is a real headache not only for the footballer himself, but also for Florentino, who had hoped to be able to move this player on.

Rodrygo's options are running out

Obviously, the Brazilian has shown he's a world-class footballer when he sets his mind to it, showing his best qualities. However, this last season and the previous one, he hasn't been a key footballer on the right wing, where he isn't comfortable. Looking at the statistics, he played more than 3,400 min. (3,400 minutes) in 54 matches with a contribution of 25 goal involvements.

Fourteen of these were direct goals, with eleven assists, almost reaching half of the total sum, which is unfeasible for a Real Madrid winger. Just comparing him to Vinícius's statistics, who managed to surpass 20 goals and almost reach 20 assists in a bad season.

However, the case of the Dutch footballer is quite different, as he's a somewhat younger player, at 22 years old, with clear progression.  His performance in the German team, and especially his impact on the game, has been much greater than the Brazilian's at Real Madrid. In addition, with 1,000 min. (1,000 minutes) less, he was only six goal involvements short of matching the Brazilian with 33 matches.

Florentino fears the worst

The president had hoped for the opportunity to move this player on to either of the two clubs in the Premier League. Now, only the worst is expected from this operation and the player could stay next season.
