Rodrygo's future is getting more complicated, another unexpected twist

The '11' from Madrid is still seeking a place in the European football elite

Rodrygo Goes is one of Real Madrid's key names in the current summer transfer window. The verdeamarelo footballer has lost his status as untouchable and undisputed starter for the 24/25 season, given his lackluster performances. The coaching change and the Club World Cup have only reinforced that negative trend.

That's why the footballer  is, albeit unofficially, on the way out of the merengue squad for several weeks now. Taking advantage of this situation, several Premier League teams started competing to secure his services... although they've gradually distanced themselves from that operation.

One of the first was Arsenal, which has already significantly strengthened its attack with the addition of Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres. Chelsea, more focused on signing Xavi Simons according to what we've learned at Defensa Central, also isn't showing much interest in the South American footballer from Real Madrid. The only reliable alternative so far was Liverpool.

As the weeks have gone by, another piece of bad news has arrived for the Brazilian footballer's future away from his current squad.  Liverpool is waiting on the departure of Luis Díaz, the Colombian winger from the first red team, to Bayern Munich. That transfer would leave enough money in the Anfield Road coffers to attempt to sign Rodrygo Goes.

Another opportunity lost

It seemed like the perfect deal, a double signing in which all the clubs involved would benefit. But those speculations have come to an abrupt end considering the information published by "The Athletic". This sports outlet affiliated with The New York Times has indicated that the red bosses don't consider Rodrygo a signing option.

The great opportunity for the Osasco striker was in Luis Díaz's departure, arriving at Merseyside to act as his direct replacement. According to "The Athletic",  from the Kirkby offices they don't consider the merengue "11" a "potential replacement" for the Colombian striker, a perception that shatters the fragile balance of this hypothetical signing.

With the verdict coming from England, from Liverpool, Rodrygo Goes's future is once again complicated. Now with no known offers, the merengue forward now seems  destined to accept the secondary role that Xabi Alonso would have assigned him for Real Madrid in the 25/26 campaign.

It remains to be seen if, during the final weeks of the summer transfer window, a new top club in the Old Continent emerges that's able to compete for Rodrygo Goes's signing. Otherwise, he will face next season with the challenge of unseating his closest competitor: a  Vinícius who has also lost popularity and seen his sporting performance decline.
