Rüdiger and Alaba: farewell to Real Madrid and Florentino 'locks in' its 2 replacements

Florentino already has plans for what Real Madrid's defense will look like in the future

The future of Rüdiger and Alaba at Real Madrid already seems to be decided, although there is still a long way to go. The season has just started, but both will see their contracts expire in 2026. Florentino's idea is not to renew either of them in order to facilitate their departure.

Both have been important in recent years after arriving on free transfers from Bayern and Chelsea. That's why he believes they have already paid off and doesn't seem to be considering extending their contracts. In fact, he is thinking about finding replacements for both Rüdiger and Alaba.

On one hand, we have spent the entire summer talking about the signing of Konaté for next summer. His contract with Liverpool is set to expire, and he has rejected the renewal offers he has received. Everything seems to indicate that he will become a Madridist once his contract ends, joining as a free agent.

He would not be the only reinforcement for Real Madrid, as they are also considering Joan Martínez. The homegrown Madridist has recovered from a serious injury and is expected to become an important piece. In fact, the impression he has left this summer is that of a solid center-back with great potential.

Real Madrid secures its long-term future

This summer, Real Madrid signed Huijsen so he could become the leader of the defense. However, his quick adaptation and performance have accelerated everything much more than expected. To such an extent that right now he is one of the regulars in Xabi Alonso's line-ups.

His youth, and Militao's allow for the prospect of two starters for many years in the Madridist defense. Joan Martínez would also be added to them, and at 18 years old, he still has room for development. Moreover, he will do so without feeling the pressure of having to take on responsibilities from day one.

Konaté will also help with that, as he is currently 26 years old and has a lot of experience at the top level. The Frenchman will indeed deliver immediate results and will still have several seasons to perform at his best. These are the plans Florentino currently has for the Madridist backline.
