Siro López, angrier than ever, calls for a major revolution after the debacle in the US
The veteran journalist revealed his own roadmap for the coming weeks
The thrashing suffered by Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semifinals is a truly unexpected result. Not only because of the lack of decisiveness shown by Xabi Alonso's players in that same match, but also because of the previous results achieved in the competition organized by FIFA.
One of the most critical analyses made in the hours immediately following that poor match by the white team comes from Siro López. The journalist appeared on Cadena COPE to offer his point of view on what happened at MetLife Stadium, summed up in a very powerful headline.

"For me, the headline is 'Disaster'", Siro López admitted. "Today, Madrid fans and I would sell three-quarters of the squad, not to mention the entire squad, after what we've seen in the match", he stated. His analysis on the episcopal radio station had just begun, but the general idea was more than clear.
Siro López especially focused on the lack of competitive character shown by Real Madrid's players. That's why he points out that "we'd sell three-quarters of the squad, not to mention the entire squad", with the aim of having new footballers who can actually be competitive. At the same time, "analyzing Alonso's tactical approach today would be tremendously unfair".
Nothing has been held back
The veteran journalist believes that the criticism of the Tolosa coach should be different, because "in the 8th minute there are two blunders by the defense and the opponent goes up 2-0". There's not much Xabi Alonso can do from his technical area to prevent those lapses in concentration and intensity during the match. But that doesn't mean, Siro López points out, that the coach from Tolosa is exempt from being singled out.
While it's true that the white coach seemed affected by the heavy defeat against PSG, that's not enough for the commentator and journalist. "Obviously, when it comes to sharing responsibility, Alonso has a lot of responsibility today. He's the one who put these players on the field", recalling the criticism aimed at Carlo Ancelotti last season in the same sense.

In fact, Siro López recalled that this had happened "last year in some matches as well, and in others not, because he considered it was a problem with the approach" of the coach. "But today's situation is something else. What we've seen today is unacceptable", the veteran journalist concluded regarding the Merengue debacle at MetLife Stadium.
Real Madrid's coaching staff, as well as the members of Santiago Bernabéu locker room, have a lot to work on in the coming weeks. The preparation for the 25/26 season will begin much sooner than initially desired due to LaLiga's decision, a verdict that not everyone in the Madrid club's ranks likes.
