From Courtois's backup to Valencia's goalkeeper, the deal is close to becoming official.
The goalkeeper trained at La Fábrica will leave the first team this summer
Real Madrid is focused on the Club World Cup and Wednesday's semifinals against PSG. However, they are also keeping an eye on possible signings that could take place in the market. The club's top management, according to information revealed by "Rodra", would be close to certifying another departure for next season.
One of the dilemmas that has lasted only a short time in Santiago Bernabéu locker room is the goalkeeper position. The extension of Thibaut Courtois's contract until 2027 is getting closer, a move that would be complemented by Andriy Lunin's current contract: the Ukrainian signed last summer until 2030 (2030).

Given this situation, the merengue sports management understands that it's not necessary to keep a third goalkeeper on the roster. At least for now, considering that the player occupying that spot can accumulate more minutes and grow as a footballer away from the first team. Fran González, who held that position, would be very close to leaving for Valencia.
While it's true that this move hasn't been confirmed yet, from the Valdebebas offices they would have approved his departure to the Levantine team. The sports discipline coached by Carlos Corberán needs a goalkeeper due to the imminent departure of Giorgi Mamardashvili: Fran González could serve as backup to the veteran Stole Dimitrievski.
A move they are studying
Fran González's departure, who made his debut with the first team during the final matches of last season's league campaign, is part of a recurring phenomenon. Every summer, Real Madrid lets several of the most advanced prospects from La Fábrica leave, an "exodus" of talent that constantly improves the reputation of the club's youth academy.
Although Fran González would have Real Madrid's approval to leave this summer, the deal is far from confirmed. In the Valencia board, in addition to the promising white goalkeeper, they are also considering signing Julen Aguirrezabala, the second goalkeeper of Athletic Club de Bilbao.

The competition between both backup goalkeepers, with the difference that the goalkeeper from the red-and-white team has played many more minutes in the First Division, is a battle that Real Madrid hopes to win. Otherwise, it will have to find a new team for Fran González.
The Spanish goalkeeper is not the only footballer who will leave La Fábrica this summer: other talents such as VĂctor Muñoz, left-back Yusi, or Chema AndrĂ©s would also negotiate their departure. The only player who has managed to earn a spot in the first team, thanks to his excellent performance in the Club World Cup, is an unstoppable Gonzalo GarcĂa.
