Surprise in Real Madrid's goal: He's looking for a team and could leave this summer
Madrid may face a significant absence ahead of next season, and movements may start to take place
Real Madrid has been extremely active in the first transfer window that FIFA enabled for the Club World Cup, between June 1 and 10, and managed to strengthen its squad with Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Both players have arrived in time to play in this tournament, which takes place in the United States, and will be able to play their first minutes with Xabi Alonso in charge.
Additionally, the club announced last week the signing of Franco Mastantuono, although the River Plate midfielder will play in the World Cup with the Argentine team. The player will join Madrid starting August 14, even though both Madrid and Franco are already waiting for these weeks to pass…
EL BENFICA AVISA AL REAL MADRID POR ÁLVARO CARRERAS
But the workload is piling up in the Concha Espina offices. The transfer of Álvaro Carreras still needs to be finalized, as he is playing in the World Cup with Benfica after the Portuguese club refused to negotiate the player's departure. Madrid will have to wait and will be able to trigger the left-back's release clause (€50 million) starting July 1.
However, that's not the only open front at Santiago Bernabéu. Possible departures are another current obstacle that shouldn't be forgotten at Madrid, which has already announced that Lucas Vázquez, Luka Modric, and Jesús Vallejo won't continue. The latter hasn't even traveled to Miami and, starting June 30, will be able to freely decide where to play.
Lunin, the next one?
According to Mario Cortegana, Andriy Lunin's camp would be trying to find a new club for the goalkeeper. The footballer's agent, Jorge Mendes, is a regular at leading these operations, although the Ukrainian signed a contract renewal with Madrid last year. He has a contract in effect until 2030.

If this move happens, Madrid would have to sign a goalkeeper, since Thibaut Courtois would need to have a potential replacement in case he gets injured, as happened last year. The Belgian, whose contract with the club ends in 2026, may renew soon.
