Surprise in Cartagena: Deportiva Minera - Real Madrid in Copa del Rey in the Spotlight

In a game belonging to the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid will face Deportivo Minera. The modest team from the Segunda División RFEF will host the Meringue team in an unprecedented game.  However, an unexpected surprise has arisen days before the game. 

Despite hosting Real Madrid, the game still has several tickets available. A rather rare occurrence, especially for such a prestigious and popular team as the Madrid. Expecting a completely full stadium, both teams have been surprised by a situation that is due to several factors.

Although the game will be played on January 6th, 2025, this situation has worried both teams. Deportivo Minera, which hoped to count on the support of its fans, is facing a very complicated scenario.

A very unique game

Hailing from Cartagena, Deportivo Minera was paired against Real Madrid after a series of good results. Overcoming Tudelano and Deportivo Alavés, the white team will face the biggest challenge in its history. Despite the modesty that has always surrounded the club, Real Madrid doesn't seek to be overly confident for this game.

However, the anticipation for this match has been overshadowed by the lack of ticket sales. One of the reasons behind this is that the match will be played at the Estadio Municipal Cartagonova. A venue that is not Deportivo Minera's, with its stadium being in Llano del Beal.

In addition to this, the ticket prices have been particularly excessive for the fans of this modest club.  Despite these issues, there's confidence that the stadium, with a capacity for 15,000 spectators, will be filled by the time of this match.

Hope in the Copa del Rey

Even though the outlook is not the most favorable for this match, both teams hope to have a stadium full of fans. Real Madrid, despite its tight schedule, is confident in advancing to the next round of the Copa del Rey.
