Tebas Approves Laporta's Idea about El Clásico: Florentino Decides
Joan Laporta is considering alternatives in case the April Clásico can't be played at Camp Nou
A Clásico outside of Spain? A few years ago it'd have seemed quite unusual to see, but it's something that, currently, we have already normalized. The preseason games between Real Madrid and Barcelona are played in the United States, while the last Super Cup was in Saudi Arabia.
However, until this moment, all Clásicos of the League have been played in Madrid or Barcelona. This may change this very season if Joan Laporta doesn't manage to solve the issue of the Camp Nou renovations before April.
In recent hours, several media outlets have suggested that Wembley could be the chosen venue for the April Clásico. This decision would be reached as long as Real Madrid doesn't oppose it, so Florentino Pérez has the final say.
Javier Tebas doesn't pose any kind of problem
Meanwhile, Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, doesn't pose any kind of problems for the game to be played away from Barcelona. "We haven't been informed of anything. We don't know anything," commented the top leader.
However, according to the latest reports, the president would indeed be willing to accept the request. "If there's a similar problem, which has happened in other stadiums due to renovations, it has always been played outside their stadium," completed Javier Tebas.
In Barcelona they believe it will be played at Camp Nou
Meanwhile, information close to the culé team states that the Catalan team will have Camp Nou available for the Clásico. This Tuesday there was a meeting in which no final date was established. However, they did try to ensure that the field will be available for the clash against Real Madrid.
In Real Madrid they have several pros and cons regarding this situation. If the match is played outside of Spain, it would mean a slight disadvantage for Barça, which wouldn't play the League clash at home.
On the other hand, in Real Madrid they don't find it convenient for a Spanish League match to be played in another country. The club is somewhat tired of making constant trips for a match that should be played in Spain to be played elsewhere.
The final decision, as confirmed by Tebas, will be up to Florentino, who will talk with his trusted people to make the best decision.
