The 3 deadlines when Real Madrid signs Mastantuono, they won't pay the release clause

This measure is used to reduce the economic impact on each season's financial year and to pay the amount in installments

Real Madrid has already made Franco Mastantuono's signing official, but there's a detail that wasn't known. The white team isn't going to pay the release clause in full and immediately. Florentino Pérez has reached an agreement with River Plate to pay the price in three installments.

This was confirmed by the president of the Argentine club, Jorge Brito, who explained the details of the agreement reached with the white entity. This formula gives Real Madrid flexibility in its accounts, which is key in the current economic context.

"Real Madrid will pay Franco Mastantuono in three installments," Brito said, revealing the structure of the transfer.

This is how the payments are distributed

The cost of the operation is the release clause of 45 million euros, but Real Madrid won't pay the full amount immediately. According to Brito himself, the payment will be divided as follows:

  • 20 million euros now, at the time of signing.
  • 12.5 million in June 2026.
  • 12.5 million in June 2027.

This agreement also makes sense from an accounting point of view. As Ramón Álvarez de Mon explained, this payment method allows the white club not to bear the total cost in the same financial year. This gives room to undertake other operations in the transfer market without compromising compliance with financial fair play.

A formula that benefits everyone

For Real Madrid, it's a way to secure one of the great promises of world soccer without disrupting its financial planning. For River Plate, it means a historic sale, as it becomes the most expensive in Argentine soccer.

In addition, the agreement includes that Mastantuono will stay with River until after the Club World Cup, a tournament he'll play with the Argentine team before joining the white discipline.

It's a well-thought-out operation by the Madrid club, which manages to close the signing without haste and without breaking its economic balance. It's a smart move that was already used in Huijsen's signing.
