The 4 superstars Real Madrid wants for midfield: only 1 will arrive
The executives led by Florentino Pérez are considering multiple options for that saga
One of Xabi Alonso's most striking requests after the Club World Cup is in the midfield. According to what we have been able to confirm from Defensa Central, the Tolosa coach understands that adding another player to the first team's midfield is as necessary as it is urgent.
But not just any profile will do: the ideal footballer is a holding midfielder with judgment and vision, and broad creative abilities. The strategy designed by the Basque coach contemplates that this hypothetical signing would accompany Arda Güler in Madrid's starting line-ups or, in fact, be capable of replacing the Turkish player.

From the Valdebebas offices, as many as four reports on footballers, firmly established in the European football elite, have been received, all of whom fit perfectly with Xabi Alonso's requirements. However, these four chosen ones are the protagonists of very demanding transfers for Santiago Bernabéu's finances.
That's why only one of them would ultimately arrive in the locker room of the Spanish capital squad. The latest name to join this wave of rumors is Nicòlo Barella, a footballer whom Carlo Ancelotti had already proposed on more than one occasion as a reinforcement for Madrid's midfield. The merengue sporting management, however, considered him a "repeated" profile and was not very sure about the suitability of his signing.
Selected candidates
The two most prominent names in this search for the ideal midfielder are Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernández. Both Argentine holding midfielders, players in the Premier League, offer similar tactical and technical virtues... although it is true that Enzo Fernández, a Chelsea footballer, usually positions himself closer to the base of the tactical setup, acting as an organizing pivot.
The last footballer that Real Madrid would consider to respond to Xabi Alonso's request is Rodrigo Hernández. Despite the notable differences between Madrid and the Madrid-born pivot, rooted mainly in what happened at the 2024 Ballon d'Or, he is an unmissable candidate... because he perfectly represents what the Madrid coach is looking for.

In any case, all these operations require meticulous planning and cautious approaches to the clubs involved. This is not only because of the high profile of the footballers chosen to complete Madrid's midfield, but also because of the high demands expected from the Valdebebas offices.
The addition of any of these four superstars is an intense and exhausting operation, especially on the financial front. That's why only one would arrive, with the aim of not overburdening Madrid's treasury... nor altering financial statements that so far make Real Madrid a reference also in sporting management.
