The 4 Signings Ancelotti Demanded from Real Madrid Last Summer: None Came

The Italian coach requested the arrival of these footballers during the past summer

Ancelotti isn't going through an easy season. The Reggiolo coach has had to deal with several problems that haven't been easy for him or his coaching staff. Throughout the course, there have been a large number of setbacks in the form of injuries.

The truth is that there are positions that are weakened. The planning done by the club might not have been the best, and according to Diario SPORT, the Italian coach reportedly requested certain signings that didn't arrive.

One of them was reportedly William Saliba. The Arsenal center-back is under contract until 2027 and, without a doubt, is one of the best in his position. The Frenchman would cost around 80 million euros, and Florentino never considered spending such an amount of money.

Another name Ancelotti put forward was Manuel Akanji. He is currently at City and is already 29 years old. He also plays in the center of the defense and is a defender that Carletto had his eye on, although he never managed to convince at Valdebebas.

Requested Midfielders

The Italian not only requested to strengthen the defensive line but also felt the need for some reinforcement in the midfield area. For this reason, as reported by Diario SPORT, he requested the addition of Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine plays for Liverpool, and signing him would cost around 90 million euros, a somewhat exorbitant figure.

Ancelotti also had Sandro Tonali in the pipeline. This player, who is a compatriot of the Real Madrid coach, was suspended for ten months due to sports betting. The signing would have cost around 50 million, but the higher-ups decided not to proceed with the operation.

Thus, it's evident that the coaching staff requested some reinforcements, but, really, the summer didn't bring much to talk about in terms of signings. There are Madridists who focus on sports planning, and perhaps they have a point. Regardless of this, the important thing is that Madrid continues fighting for titles, like LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.
