Two Players Mijatovic Would Transfer for Real Madrid are More than Necessary
The former Meringue player directly points to two players to expand the first team
Real Madrid's situation, due to their defeat in the Spanish Supercopa final, is generating many opinions. The current moment experienced by the entity presided over by Florentino Pérez has several aspects to consider, such as the absence of Carlo Ancelotti's requested transfers for the past six months.
Pedja Mijatovic, a former player of the Meringue team, has brought up this issue with a very strong verdict that doesn't go unnoticed. Especially due to the reluctance shown by the Madrid board to expand the team during successive winter transfer market... as is happening right now.
Several media outlets say that from the Valdebebas offices, there are no plans to intervene in the first team mid-season, postponing any transfers to the summer market. In this regard, Mijatovic makes it clear which transfers he'd prioritize to prevent the competitive slump from extending into the second half of this season.
"If I were the sporting director of Madrid, I would strengthen the wingers", confesses the second front from Montenegro. After all, the current occupants of those positions, Vázquez and Mendy, are among the most criticized for the thrashing received against Barcelona in Saudi Arabia. "Madrid has had very important wingers for many decades", recalls the former merengue executive.
He's very clear about it
The change is radical, warns Mijatovic, because "we must not forget Roberto Carlos, Panucci, Carvajal, Marcelo". All these names are of players "in these two positions who have made a difference" in most of the matches they have played. The absence of Dani Carvajal himself, severely injured in his right knee, is affecting the team more than initially anticipated.
That's why the executives led by Florentino Pérez have proposed two transfers as free agents for the next summer market: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies. Although the Bavarian '19' is on track for a renewal with Bayern Munich, the Valdebebas offices aren't giving up and are keeping that door open.
The additions to both full-back positions are, for Pedja Mijatovic, even more important than the arrival of a playmaking pivot to succeed Toni Kroos. The defense is the area most 'hit' by injuries in the last two seasons... and little or nothing has been done to alleviate a situation that has the white club against the ropes in an exhausting campaign.
Right now, the arrival of Alexander-Arnold would bring some peace to the white team. But the English winger will only be available in six months if he doesn't renew with Liverpool by then. With no visible alternatives for the left-back position, the Madrid sporting direction has a lot of work ahead according to Pedja Mijatovic.
