They reveal Álvaro Carreras's new contract and the signing date with Madrid.

Everything would already be settled as they've announced, the signing is approaching

Real Madrid hasn't lost sight of Álvaro Carreras as a potential signing for next season. It's true that Benfica's stance regarding the Club World Cup made his arrival a bit more difficult. However, starting July 1, they won't be able to do anything to keep him.

The Whites were reconsidering paying his release clause to be able to add him to their squad. This way, Xabi Alonso will have one more left-back, since it had been one of his requests. Although some agreement with Benfica to split the payment still can't be ruled out.

What does seem clear is what Álvaro Carreras's new contract will look like, this time with Real Madrid. It was on El Chiringuito where they discussed the details, pointing out that it'll happen after the Club World Cup ends. Therefore, he'll join Xabi Alonso's squad in the preseason.

The only question that remains is whether there'll be a signing bonus for the player. What they have revealed is that Carreras will be tied to Real Madrid for five seasons. He'll also earn €3.5 million net for each of them.

The arrival of Carreras forces a departure within Real Madrid

If Álvaro Carreras's signing is finally confirmed, Real Madrid will have to let go of a player. Together with Mendy and Fran García, they'd have three left-backs, too many for the club. So one of them will have to pack his bags and look for a new destination.

Although the Spaniard and the Frenchman have valid contracts, they'll listen to offers for both in the summer. Xabi prefers to keep Fran, since he thinks he's the one who can contribute the most to his plans. However, right now, he's the one most likely to end up leaving.

Among other things, because Mendy renewed his contract last season, which could complicate the plans. In addition, his ongoing injuries—he's currently out—put off many teams. It's a delicate situation for which they're seeking a solution at Real Madrid as soon as possible.
