This is how Ngumoha plays: the latest gem Calafat wants to get his hands on

The British forward is one of the sensations at the start of the season

One of the names being talked about in the Premier League, even during the current September international break, is Rio Ngumoha. This young Liverpool forward has taken the European football elite by surprise after a decision by Arne Slot: the Dutch coach gave him just one minute of play.

However, his minimal participation in the match against Newcastle United, at St. James's Park, was enough for Ngumoha to score the goal that gave the red side all three points during stoppage time. Although he hasn't played since then, the footballer from Liverpool's first reserve team has sparked the immediate interest of several clubs from the European football elite.

Among them, Real Madrid. The scouts led by Juni Calafat, as we have been able to confirm at Defensa Central, have great interest in the profile of this left winger. The footballer trained in the Chelsea academy, although it's true that his last years of development are being completed in Merseyside, possesses a natural talent for dribbling.

Not only because of his skill with his feet, a virtue for which he was already known in the upper echelons of Stamford Bridge before this team change in the summer of 2024 (2024), but also because his dribbling ability combines with the speed he has shown playing for Liverpool's under-21 squad, physical qualities that bring him closer to the profile of Vinícius Jr.

Step by step

As was the case with the verdeamarelo footballer at the beginning of his career at Real Madrid, Rio Ngumoha shows some difficulties in reading the game. Especially in positional attacks, given that his style doesn't exactly fit a team that dominates possession and "besieges" the opponent's goal.

Ngumoha is particularly decisive in one-on-one situations against defenders, especially if he has Lots of yards ahead (muchos metros por delante). Far from being an striker always focused on the goal, the Liverpool player can be considered a "classic" winger. In fact, most of his promising actions end in crosses or passes toward the inner channels of the red attack.

That doesn't mean that the footballer, as was already seen against Newcastle United, will waste the opportunity to increase his goal tally. It's not the first time Arne Slot has turned to the young Brit to complete the first team: he made his senior debut in the 24/25 edition of the FA Cup.

The red executives, despite the widespread optimism, point out that it's still too soon to deliver a verdict on his chances in the Anfield locker room. Rio Ngumoha is the only pure dribbler in attack, apart from a Florian Wirtz more linked to the attacking midfield, that Arne Slot has in the squad. That's why he won't hesitate to make the most of him.
