This is what the 'Champions League' Castilla coached by Arbeloa will play almost 50 years later

Castilla invited to a competition, returns to Europe after playing the Cup Winners' Cup

Arbeloa faces an important challenge this season in his career as a coach at Real Madrid. He will take charge of Castilla, replacing Raúl, who left this summer. However, he will also play in a "Champions League" that will put him to the test.

It is true that he already has experience in Europe from the bench, having been in the last Youth Leagues. This season, Castilla has been invited to the Premier League International Cup (PLIC). This is a European competition organized by the Premier League and not officially recognized by UEFA.

In the style of the Champions League, during the season Castilla will have to face this tournament with matches on the calendar. The first merengue reserve team has been invited to a competition for under-21 teams. It has been held since the 2014–2015 season and the Whites are taking it on with excitement.

This is its return to Europe 45 years later, after playing the Cup Winners' Cup in the 1980–1981 season. The previous year, Real Madrid beat Castilla in the Copa del Rey final, won the league, and allowed its reserve team to play in the second European competition.

A format that will allow Castilla to test its abilities at the international level

The Premier League International Cup consists of 32 teams divided into 16 from the Premier League and 16 international teams. They will be divided into 4 groups of 8, with half of the members being English. The rest of the world completes the groups in a somewhat special system.

The international teams face only the Premier League teams in 4 single-match rounds. All matches are played on British soil to determine the standings. The top 2 advance to the quarterfinals and from there, direct knockout matches, with extra time and penalties.

The teams must be made up of players who are under 21 years old (21 años). There is only one exception, which is that they allow 3 outfield players and one goalkeeper who are older than that age. Arbeloa will be able to test himself in Europe in his first year in charge of Castilla.
