Tomás Roncero explodes over Madrid's preseason, historic protest: 'A mistake'
The journalist still doesn't understand why Santiago Bernabéu Trophy isn't being played
Real Madrid continues to move forward in what is one of the most atypical preseasons in its long history. After the Club World Cup, the players went on vacation until August 3. They returned to Valdebebas last Monday and, so far, they have played only one friendly against CD Leganés (4-1) in secret.
There are 11 days left before LaLiga kicks off against CA Osasuna at Santiago Bernabéu. However, Real Madrid will play a friendly match in Austria against WSG Tirol at Tivoli Stadion. The match is scheduled for August 12 at 7:00 p.m. and can be watched on "Real Madrid TV".

Álvaro Benito and Tomás Roncero spoke about Real Madrid's preseason on Cadena SER. The well-known journalist from AS ended up somewhat annoyed with the club's decision not to play the Trofeo Bernabéu for another year.
Tomás Roncero doesn't understand the friendly in Austria
"There's a friendly that I didn't really like. Tomorrow we're playing against Leganés, which I think is fine because it's behind closed doors, but the one in Tirol hurt me", he explained last Thursday.
"You all know that I'm nostalgic, and I love being accused of that, especially on social media. A nostalgic person is someone who knows how to look back to see the greatness of its club. The Trofeo Bernabéu should've been held this summer", commented Tomás Roncero.

"I repeat it and I'll say it loudly and in a capricious way, because the club has kept a scrupulous silence because they can't justify it. The Trofeo Bernabéu should've been held this year, but we've preferred to play a friendly in Innsbruck against the prestigious Tirol and I think it's a mistake", he added.
"The Trofeo Bernabéu must be revered and held whenever possible, even though it's very difficult because Madrid almost always wins the Champions League. Before, it couldn't be played because it coincided with the UEFA Super Cup", Tomás Roncero explained to the audience.
The last time Real Madrid played the well-known Trofeo Bernabéu was against AC Milan in 2018. Since then, the white club has chosen not to play that match.
