The second matchday of LaLiga 25/26 has produced several truly striking results. In addition to FC Barcelona's in extremis comeback at the Ciutat de Valencia, Atlético de Madrid hosted newly promoted Elche in the Spanish capital. Although they were considered favorites to win this match, they couldn't secure all three points.

Tomás Roncero is taking advantage of the situation experienced by Diego Pablo Simeone's players, with the Argentine coach once again under scrutiny outside Atlético de Madrid's environment, to remind everyone of the draw. The difficulties faced by the Madrid squad are greater than desired, considering the spending recorded by the Colchonero bosses this summer transfer window.

The signings made during the summer window, some of them very necessary to improve the squad, haven't directly translated into results. After this draw against Elche, Tomás Roncero is very clear about who should be singled out for the defeat and the only point earned so far.
