Toni Kroos Reveals the Barça Footballer He Would Sign for Real Madrid: 'It's the...'

The former German '8' surprisingly points to a player from the white team's main domestic rival

Real Madrid focuses on the final stretch of the current league campaign amid rumors about the pending signings for the next season. One of the most urgent, aside from the changes needed in the weakened merengue defensive line, is in the midfield. One of the factors that has contributed to this need for players is the retirement of Toni Kroos.

The farewell to professional soccer of the former merengue midfielder has left a significant void in the white midfield that the white sports management will try to solve as soon as possible. One of the possible signings to replace the former German organizing pivot is a footballer of his same profile: Martín Zubimendi, currently a Spanish player for Real Sociedad.

But that name doesn't convince Toni Kroos himself. Not at least in comparison with the footballer he would have pointed out in one of his latest statements from Germany: Pedri González. The '8' of FC Barcelona, one of the key pieces in Hansi Flick's tactical scheme, is a choice that the former midfielder likes a lot.

"Pedri is right now the best there is in that position for me", warns Toni Kroos. Because "in general, he is a player who is missed when he doesn't play, against anyone". It is no wonder that FC Barcelona has suffered, during this and previous seasons, when the Canarian '8' has been absent from the blaugrana sports discipline due to injury.

No Doubts

Pedri's key role in the midfield of an elite team, for Toni Kroos, is very clear: the versatility offered by the Canarian midfielder. "He not only scores goals, nor only assists. He gives you solutions", something Real Madrid would urgently need to improve their level of play for the 24/25 season.

Besides those "solutions," Toni Kroos understands that Pedri would be the ideal player for Real Madrid's midfield. "I've seen what Pedri is doing this season, and only in the Champions League, he surpasses 52 opponents per match", he points out with several statistics to illustrate his good performance. "In LaLiga, it's even more extreme: he surpasses 59 opponents per match!", notes the former German '8' of Real Madrid.

With those data, Toni Kroos has no doubt: "he is the best. And if you're missing a player like that, you'll notice it". The words of the former organizing pivot of Real Madrid are a new opinion in the debate registered in the Valdebebas offices about the generational change in the merengue midfield.

The departure of Toni Kroos, who now points to Pedri González as one of the best footballers of the moment, leaves a significant void. The executives led by Florentino Pérez are striving to find the ideal player to replace the former German midfielder, given that the option of Pedri is impossible to make a reality.
