Controversy with Oviedo over racist insults to Vinícius: 'The police don't...'
The police are still investigating the racist insults that LaLiga reported to Vinícius at the Tartiere
The match between Real Oviedo and Real Madrid remains a topic of conversation due to a rather regrettable incident that occurred in the stands. Several fans — if they can be called that — made racist comments toward Vinícius during the second matchday of LaLiga. Martín Peláez, the club's president, appeared this past Monday at an institutional event to provide an update on the status of the investigation.
Martín Peláez made it clear that, after several weeks, authorities still haven't found conclusive evidence.

Martín Peláez's words on the abuse toward Vinícius
"The police are still investigating it and as soon as we have the result or if we find any indication, we'll punish it. We're confident in our fans' behavior, Tartiere and our people have always been up to the task and that day was no exception. If nothing has come out by now, it's good news, because if there had been something, it would already be known", said the Real Oviedo president.
It is worth remembering that LaLiga reported the racist comments toward Vinícius after they were detected by television cameras. Both in the first and second halves, sounds imitating a monkey were heard, something that has already happened in other Spanish soccer stadiums. In addition, Real Oviedo fans also tried to hit the Brazilian with a bottle during the celebration of one of the goals.
The racist abuse did exist
The incident in question is causing great controversy, as Movistar+ cameras captured the moment when the abuse occurred. However, the Real Oviedo president has limited himself to denying everything. "If nothing has come out by now, it's good news, because if there had been something, it would already be known", he said.

This episode at Carlos Tartiere is not an isolated one. In May 2025, five Valladolid fans were sentenced to one year in prison and additional penalties for making racist comments toward Vinícius in a previous match. This is not the first, nor the second time, that the Brazilian forward has received this kind of comment while doing his job in a stadium.
