UEFA's first favor to Barcelona for the upcoming Champions League is confirmed

They have given in to the Culers with a favor from which they will benefit

The Champions League season hasn't started yet for the teams that qualified directly. However, there's going to be controversy after the decision UEFA has made. They haven't hesitated to blatantly grant them the first favor, to the detriment of the rest of the teams.

This Thursday, UEFA members visited the construction works at Camp Nou and confirmed how much remains to be done. They saw that only the field is in good condition, set up to look nice for the photos. But the reality is very different, with many deficiencies and much left to do.

That's why they decided to submit a request to the European soccer governing body to give them a hand. They requested to play the first match of this season's Champions League group stage as visitors. This way, they would gain time to make progress on the works and have Camp Nou ready.

According to sources close to Defensa Central, UEFA has granted that advantage to Barça. So, the Culers are once again benefiting from a decision that is clearly unfair. This undermines the equality of a tournament that Ceferin later boasts about.

The favor that benefits Barça in Champions

With the new Champions League format they established, UEFA has scrapped fairness during the first phase. There aren't home and away matches against the same team, and that creates inequalities. Real Madrid had to play at a tough ground like Anfield, but Liverpool didn't visit Bernabéu.

If that wasn't enough, now they've blatantly benefited Barça. By confirming the first favor for the opening matchday of the Champions League, they undermine the draw. The order of the matches and the venue where they're played used to be determined automatically.

Now we know that the Culers will start playing away, something from which they'll benefit. Especially because it will allow them to finish the first phase of the League playing at home. That's a big favor in case they're playing for something that day.
