From key starter to likely sale, goodbye to Real Madrid to play in Saudi Arabia
Real Madrid might be considering selling or releasing a player to move to Saudi Arabia
David Alaba's situation is complicated, because he hasn't fully recovered his physical form and has now suffered another injury. He has undergone surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee and is in the recovery process, but there are doubts about his return. If it depended on Real Madrid, they would release his spot.
"There is a possibility that David Alaba will go to Saudi Arabia. His salary is one of the highest on the team (€22.5 million gross) but he is no longer a starter," they claim from diario AS. If true, the Madrid entity would be succeeding, because they would save quite a few millions to invest in another player.
For now, David Alaba hasn't communicated that he wants to leave, so his contract must be respected. That is something Real Madrid has always done, they never pressure players to leave. With the arrival of Huijsen and another defender, Alaba could be forced to leave the club in search of playing time.
He is happy
David Alaba has adapted very well to the city of Madrid with his family. The same goes for the club and the locker room, where he is one of the most loved and respected players. For that reason, he is in no hurry to leave and sign for another team; on the contrary, he would like to stay longer.
Nonetheless, he will take Real Madrid's opinion very much into account, because he doesn't want to be on a team that doesn't count on him. For that reason, when he is recovered and starts training, he will be able to better evaluate what he has to do with his future. He hasn't made a decision yet, because he is only thinking about recovering.
They prepare
Real Madrid want to be prepared for all situations. They have moved quickly with the signing of Dean Huijsen, but they could sign another defender after the Club World Cup. Now the goal is to finalize the signing of Álvaro Carreras and evaluate the midfielder and defender situation.
The player is very grateful to Real Madrid for all these seasons. Especially, for the closeness and attention they have given during his recovery process.
