Valencia - Real Madrid Forces a Surreal Marathon of Matches for the Year 2025

Last Sunday, the AFE announced that they will inform LaLiga and the RFEF that the Valencia - Real Madrid game will not be played on January 2nd, 2025.

This would mean that Valencia and Real Madrid would have to play the cup match on January 6th. A match on the day of the celebration of the Three Wise Men, when soccer players are usually with their families.

This delay allows the white team to play its cup match on January 6 because it will have the minimum of 48 hours of rest. It seems clear then that Liga and RFEF will have to accept this date of January 3 and that both will play the Cup on January 6.

A carousel of matches never seen before

The start of the year will be packed with matches for Real Madrid . First, Los Blancos will travel to Valencia (2/3 or 6 January). Then comes the first round of the Copa del Rey, which will probably be on 6 January.

Three days later (9 January), Real Madrid will play RCD Mallorca in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup . The Merengue team will have to travel to Saudi Arabia for another year to play in the tournament. If the Chamartín team advances to the next round, they will face Barça or Athletic Club on Sunday 12 January.

A total of three games, which could be four, in just eleven days. In that period of time, Real Madrid could take the lead in La Liga , advance to the next round of the Cup and lift the Spanish Super Cup .
